- Identify what you're selling. Abbreviations may be clear to you, but not to a prospective buyer.
- Describe the item with enough basic information to get the reader interested. Feature appealing details. The more descriptive your ad, the more appealing it will be to a prospective client.
- Don't exaggerate the item's condition or features. Make your ad attractive, but believable. People shun claims that sound too good to be true.
- Include price. Advertising the price draws greater response because people are interested in what they can afford. If price is negotiable, say so.
- Be home when your ad is running or specify the hours you can be reached. People may not call back if they can't reach you at first. Don't risk missing a sale -- be there when the phone rings.
